Boxy Tops - Not for Mum's?!

"A t-shirt in WINTER? And a short, one?! This is not for mums!"

Yes! Yes! And Yes it is! We are releasing this super cool boxy tee and we think now is the right time! You have asked us to make them longer but we will not do it! Here is why:

These tees are super trendy, they suit a lot more people than you might think and no one has to show any midriff skin!

I am definitely taking all your messages, comments and emails on board and am already thinking about releasing a different style top or tee in the future but it will be a completely different cut. This boxy tee is fine exactly how we made it.

- Layer them up! -

This is my first and most important tip - so pay attention ;)

"Layer your boxy top over another shirt. If it’s a little cold or you aren’t able to wear the shirt alone, layer it over another shirt. A white button-up is always a great choice, but any fitted shirt with sleeves longer than the box top will be fine. This look is best for crop tops.[7]

  • This is also a great look paired with a shirt with extra-wide or bell-shaped sleeves." (WikiHow)

- Get creative! -

The new boxy Tee’s are landing this week! I am super pumped and can’t wait to share these designs with the world. Boxy cropped t-shirts are my fave wardrobe staple at the moment because you can wear them in so many different ways. Check out these great sketches by wikiHow:

Here you can find heaps of tips on how to style and wear these cool boxy tees right. Read the whole article to educate yourself on this fashion trend and to find out which way works best for you.

Lot’s of you guys were worried - and probably still are - that they will not fit you – that they are too short and “they look terrible with your mum-tum?!” No – don’t be put off just because they are a little bit shorter than a classic t-shirt! It is so easy to style them - even when they are a little bit shorter - again: Layer them up! “Crop tops look cute over a tank, camisole, T-shirt, even a crisp, fitted white button down blouse. Add a wide-leg trouser for a runway-worthy look.” (Quote by Lesley Kennedy)

- Combo is key! -

Be creative and try out different styles when layering your boxy tees. This can be so much fun! If you are slim you can easily wear high waisted pants, skirts or shorts with this as well. No one has to show skin or feel like the tee is “too sexy”. Check out what my friend Amie did:

As you can see Amie has styled her boxy “Animal Print” tee with a long black tank top underneath. I think it looks super trendy and compliments her body shape. Especially if you keep the shirt or blouse underneath flowy – that makes it an easy and effortless look.

By picking up a colour that is already represented in the t-shirt as a underneath layer she proves she knows what she is doing when putting an outfit together. She has completed this look by adding some high waisted blue denim jeans and some of her classy sparkly tassel earrings. With this look she can go out for lunch, dinner or drinks. Or it could easily be an every day look – minus the perfect glamorous make up by make up artists Alisha and Stephanie (“One Eleven”) 😉

- Masure it up -

You are still not convinced?! Well I will give you all the information I have - here are the approx. measurements of our new tees. Take them and measure your tees you have at home to see if this could work for you or not.

You also have to see that these tees are not super short crop tops! They are a little shorter than a standard t-shirt, yes - but they are not showing your entire stomach. Please see the pictures below to compare for yourself:

- Absolute No's -

Lastly I want to make sure you know what NOT to do. There are so many fun things you CAN do - but two things are a "no":

1. Low-rise pants and 2. jackets

"Boxy tops look great with higher-rise bottoms. Low-rise bottoms can show more skin than the top is designed for, and they can make the top look like it's not fitted. Stick to regular or high-rise bottoms with your boxy tops.

Try not to wear jackets. Jackets tend to make boxy tops bunch up uncomfortably, and a heavy coat can make you look a little too boxy. Boxy tops are best worn in warm or mild weather. If you want to keep wearing your boxy top into the fall and winter, try layering it over a shirt or sweater, or taking off your coat as soon as you get inside" (WikiHow)

- And that's it -

I hope I could open up your mind a little bit about this t-shirt style and even if the Anak-Anak Tee's are not the right size or print for you - I hope one day you will try out a boxy tee and see for yourself how much fun they are.

For all women that were excited about them but are not able to wear sizes 8-14: I am so sorry that I can not offer a wider size range at the moment. This little business has to start somewhere and expanding our range slowly is one step of many that we are taking in order to grow. I hope you will bare with us until we are able to cater for lots more shapes and sizes in the future - in the meantime you can support us and help us grow by recommending our clothes to friends of yours that might like them? We would appreciate it so much if you would help us spread the word.

Much love,

Lisa
